What do Problem Solving and Gaming have to do with eachother?@Model.Size>
Well, more than you might think.
As a child, I was a hardcore gamer. Not so much mindless shooters (although that was fun too), but mainly Adventure games. The kind of games where you had to use your brain, solve problems and puzzles.
What appealed to me most were the challenges and the satisfaction that came with them after the long search. Most of the games at that time (I'm talking about the early 90s) were also text-based only. There I sat with my dictionary, constantly translating what appeared on the screen. Later, sound was added as well, once the technology was ready.
So I learned not only solution-oriented thinking, but also English, both reading and speaking. My favorite games were from the publisher LucasArts, later LucasFilm Games, founded by George Lucas, a name that will probably sound familiar. => LucasFilm Games
That time has long passed for me. But it taught me a lot and developed skills that I can apply in my job as a software developer. There too, I can sink my teeth into challenges and look for creative solutions.
